A Look at the Brickwork

Our mason is back in town today, and coming over to talk about plans for continuing. I thought I would share pictures of the little bit of work that was completed before we discovered the moving walls. It really looks nice!

This one isn't completely finished, as you can see... it was in progress when they stopped.

Overall, I am VERY pleased. The new mortar is almost indistiguishable from the old; the slight difference you can see is dirt staining the old mortar. The new bricks are blending in very well, too. I am glad we chose to hire this out; the level of craftsmanship is not something I feel I could attain myself!

  1. Jennifer, WOW they are doing a good job! You can always "dirty" up the new morter a bit your self if you want!

  2. Wow. I'm impressed too! It looks like he might even be worth what you're paying for it!

I can't tell from the pictures, how is he fixing the bricks with holes in them? Replacing them, or filling somehow?

It looks great. So nice when you open a can of worms and it all comes together as it should.

  7. Man, that looks incredible! I know it was a hardship to cover the cost, but whatever sacrifice you're making, I think it was worth it. You won't be sorry. :-)

  8. I've been away so just now got back to your story. I was actually thinking about your natural vs paint dilemma while I was on vacation!

Glad to see that it's all going to work out. Looks terrific. You'll be really happy when it's all done. And a big Whew! on the close call crisis!
